This Getting Started manual describes the key aspects of the software installation, initial configurations, and tips on getting up and running with Dartfish.

Package

REMOTE CONTROL*

Enables you to control what is displayed and execute commands (record, compare, etc.) remotely during training.

USB INFRARED RECEPTOR*

Enables the computer to receive the commands sent from the remote control.

Do not plug the ‘USB remote control receiver’ before installation of software is done.

2. INSTALLING YOUR SOFTWARE

INSTALLATION PROCESS

Pro 5.5 CD - TeamPro, ProSuite, Live, and Connect Plus editions
EF 5.5 CD - Education

Note: Please uninstall any Dartfish trial software you previously installed before proceeding with the new installation. Be aware that user needs to have administrator rights to install the software. Please check that time and date of your computer are set correctly before installation. Do not plug the infrared receptor before installing your software.

> STEP 1
Insert Software CD into CD/DVD drive.
After a few moments, the startup screen should appear automatically.
If it does not, select Start>My Computer, open the drive with the CD and double-click on weblauncher.exe.

> STEP 2
Click on Install Dartfish software...

...and follow the instructions on the screen. When prompted, you must read and select I accept the terms in the license agreement to continue the installation.

> STEP 3
Entering the product key

Use the product key to install the software. It can be found on the back of the software package (DVD box) or as a separate piece of paper. Enter the User Name, Organization, and Serial Number EXACTLY as indicated, respecting the case and including spaces.

Activation Period - 3 days
You have 3 days after installation to activate your software. Activation can be done at any time during that period. The software will be functional, but if you do not activate it within this time period, than you will not be able to launch it again until it is activated. See below, common instruction for activation process.

Ct 5.5 - Connect edition

Note: Please uninstall any Dartfish trial software you previously installed before proceeding with the new installation. Be aware that user needs to have administrator rights to install the software. Please check that time and date of your computer are set correctly before installation.

Trial Period – 30 days
After the successful installation of the software, a Trial period of 30 days will begin for evaluation purpose. If you bought the product and received a license code, you can insert it and activate the software at any time during this evaluation period. The software is fully functional, but if you do not activate within this period, you will not be able to launch it again until it is activated. Beware that modifying the date and/or time on your computer will cancel this evaluation period and lock the software until it is activated.

Entering the Product Key
You are prompted to enter the Connect 5.5 Product key upon launch of the software. You may skip it to pursue the evaluation period, but you will have no other choice when the period is over. Please pay attention that the User Name and Organization are case sensitive and must therefore be entered exactly as they appear. When the Product Key is entered, you are ready to get to the Activation step. See below, common instruction for activation process.

3. SOFTWARE ACTIVATION PROCESS

Please note you will only be able to activate the software once. The software will then be locked to the computer you chose. Please read the "ACTIVATION TRANSFER" paragraph for more information. Be aware that user needs to have administrator rights to activate the software.

AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION

If the computer where Dartfish is installed is connected to Internet, it can be automatically activated.

A. When prompted to activate, select “Automatic (Recommended)” and press “Next” 2 times. This process will send unique hardware identifiers from your computer to our License Server.

B. Based on these unique identifiers, the License Server will generate an Activation Code. This Activation Code is unique, and will only work on your computer. The code is then automatically sent and installed from the License Server to you. The process takes a few seconds to complete.

MANUAL ACTIVATION

If your computer is not connected to Internet, you will have to ask for a manual activation.
This process implies generating a “Manual Activation Request”, a document that is required by Dartfish Technical Support to generate the Activation Code.

A. Generate and send the request to Dartfish Technical Support:

  • When prompted to activate, select “Manual” and press “Next”.
  • Select “Request an activation code” and press “Next.”
  • Select “Save the request”, fill the E-mail, Fax and Country information in, and press “Next”.
  • A “Save As...” prompt will appear. Select a destination and a filename for the file, and press “Save”.
  • Either print that file and send it by Fax to the number provided on the request, or copy it to an Internet-connected computer (with a USB Memory Key for example) and send it as E-mail attachment to software.activation@dartfish.com

B. Based on the request, Dartfish Technical Support will generate the Activation Code on the License Server.

C. Activation Code is sent back to you as E-mail or Fax. You will have to enter it in the Activation wizard.

  • When prompted to activate, select “Manual” and press “Next”.
  • Select “Enter an activation code” and insert your Activation Code. Press “Next”.

ACTIVATION TRANSFER

If you reinstall your Operating System, change hardware parts of your computer, want to transfer your activation to a new computer or have any other problem/question, please contact Dartfish Technical Support. You can open a Support Ticket directly from the “Help” menu of Dartfish Software, or from www.dartfish.com (Registration required).

Stay up-to-date
Make sure to check regularly for the latest update. To do this, connect to the Internet and select ‘Help’ > ‘Update Software’ from your software menu.

4. CONNECTING EXTERNAL DEVICES

THE STREAMZAP REMOTE CONTROL

The StreamZap Remote Control enables you to control what is displayed and execute commands (record, compare, etc.) remotely during training. To configure your remote control, proceed as follows:

> STEP 1 CONNECT THE INFRARED RECEIVER

Connect the infrared receiver to a free USB port. Windows will detect it and install the new found hardware.

> STEP 2 COMPLETE THE WIZARD

The first time you connect a device to a USB port, Windows will launch the Hardware Configuration Wizard. When prompted, select Yes, this time only and click Next>. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard. Note that you may have to go through the wizard a second time if you connect the receiver to a different USB port. Rebooting the system is required to make this StreamZap Remote works properly.

Note: You will need two AAA batteries to use the remote control (included in your package)

DV CAMCORDER

Your software is designed to capture video from your camcorder to your laptop or PC. The transfer requires both devices to be connected with a FireWire cable (not included in your package) as illustrated below.
