Compatibility with Apple Computers
Mac os macintosh apple osxOur software is currently not compatible with Apple OS X. Dartfish software has been developed and tested specifically with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
However, since Apple’s release of their “Leopard” OS featuring Boot Camp, it is now possible to install Windows XP, Vista or 7 in conjunction with OS X.
Many of our customers are already successfully using this option and are reporting great results running our software. Please note that at present we do not officially support this method and cannot be held responsible for any driver / operating conflicts when using Dartfish on an Apple computer.
Dartfish doesn't fully work on virtual machines, such as "Parallels", due to an unsupported port IEEE 1394 (FireWire). Direct connections with a camcorder are therefore not possible.
On iMac and MacBook Pro, the IEEE 1394 connection is limited to one port, therefore only one DV camcorder can be connected.
Summary list of compatibility
Full compatibility with:
- MacPro (Desktop) for all models installed with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and Boot Camp.

- MacBook Pro 13", 15", 17" and Mac mini with bootcamp, limited to one DV camcorder connection.
- Virtual machines, such as "Parallels 4.0 / 5.0", excluding the camcorder connection through the IEEE 1394 port.
- We are not compatible with MacBook, MacBook Air and the virtual machine "VMWare".
