Making an installation log file
installation log fileDartfish Technical Support asked you to make a log file of your installation and attach it to your mail.
A log file is a file generated by the computer, where all steps of the installation will be chronologically noted. This file will be very valuable for the Support team when you have an installation problem, because it will show at which exact step the problem is occuring.
To make it, please follow this procedure:
- Insert Dartfish software CD in the drive.
- Click the Start menu > 'Run'. Keep the window opened.
- Browse the CD with 'Windows Explorer' to the installer .exe file ("CD drive":/Dartfish/Dartfish_Software_4_0.exe)
- Drag & drop the file to the command line of the opened 'Run' window.
- Add /v"/l*v C:\df.log" at the end of the 'Run' command line.
Your command line should now look like this:
X:/Dartfish/Dartfish_software_4_0.exe /v"/l*v C:\df.log"
Where X is the drive letter of your CD-Rom.

- Click OK, install should begin.
- Go ahead until the error message comes up.
- A df.log file has been created on the root of the C: drive, please attach to an e-mail and send it to Dartfish Support.
