Bradstock Receives First Dartfish USA Award For Outstanding Achievement in 2007

Dartfish is pleased to announce that Roald Bradstock is the recipient of the first “Dartfish Outstanding Achievement Award”. This is given in recognition of Roald’s on-going success as an athlete, as a coach and as an artist, with Dartfish technology playing an integral role in all three of Roald’s specialties.

Roald Bradstock, the founder of “Fitness Artworks”, creates images to promote Olympic and Paralympic athletes, as well as for various organizations and related companies. The dARTfish - The Art of Coaching” poster below is a great example of Bradstock’s creative thinking and artistic talent.

Bradstock was dubbed “The Olympic Picasso” by the British press in 2006 as word of his “2012 Olympic Proposal” spread. Roald’s ambitious proposal would use imagery to promote the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics in innovative ways. Bradstock is also a founding member of an Olympic revival movement called Art of the Olympians. Other notable Olympian artists in this elite group of 12 include Olympic icons Bob Beamon, Florence Griffith-Joyner and Al Oerter.

Roald’s artwork, some of which is Dartfish inspired, has been displayed on the giant Panasonic screen in New York City’s Time Square and has been featured on the CBS Morning Show. He also held exhibitions with the Art Olympians in Fort Myers, the National Arts Club, the New York Athletic Club and the United Nations. In October of 2006, one of his paintings broke the $10,000 barrier at a live auction in London. Plans are being made for 2008 art exhibits in both Atlanta and London, including a selection of Dartfish inspired imagery.

Dartfish filmed Roald Bradstock during a now famous training session in 2003. The “Stromotion” sequence captured Roald throwing the javelin and has been seen by millions of people worldwide, including articles in Time Magazine, Muscle and Fitness Magazine, American Track & Field, Athletics Weekly and an assortment of other coaching and athletic magazines. This image has been viewed so frequently that Roald has become known as “Mr. Dartfish”.

Bradstock’s plans for 2008 are to make his 7th Olympic Trials at 46 years of age and improve on his own record. In 2007 Roald broke the American 45 year old age record 3 times and also the World Age Record. He became the oldest javelin thrower to compete at USA Track and Field Nationals making the finals and finishing 12th, ending the year ranked #1 in the World 40’s Masters’ rankings.
In 2006 Bradstock coached America’s number one javelin thrower Breaux Greer to his 6th consecutive national title. In 2004 Roald competed at his 6th USA Track and Field Olympic Trials, finishing an amazing 10th. At 42 years of age he also broke the American age record with a throw of 74.28m. Roald credits Dartfish’s coaching software as a key component of his success.

A new venture will roll out next year when Bradstock will conduct a pilot study, creating a training program in Atlanta for tennis players and golfers.
