Presbyterian Ladies’ College is a Uniting Church School committed to educational excellence that gives girls confidence to lead purposeful lives and make an active contribution towards the common good.
As video analysis is becoming a larger part of the Australian curriculum, PLC acknowledges the need to implement easy to use, flexible video analysis software to complement their recent upgrade to the latest Apple MacBook notebook computer for around 400 students. These are connected over a wireless network throughout the school, enabling staff and students to share their work and videos electronically. These notebooks are used in every class throughout the day from Science to Physical Education. This innovation is further enhanced as each MacBook comes with a built in video camera, the perfect accompaniment to Dartfish Classroom, and now around 400 students will be capturing their own video and then analysing the footage with Dartfish Classroom 4.0 right there on the spot; or they can take it away to view at home or anywhere on the campus – perhaps whilst sitting under a tree eating their lunch!
This groundbreaking work will enable every student to completely manage video projects from creating their own Drama performances by directing, filming, editing, annotating and presenting all from within the Dartfish suite utilising various modules including the most powerful communication tool, the exclusive Dartfish Media Book. Teachers can also set project assignments where the student will need to either correctly annotate the assembly of a Science project or highlight key positions of gymnastics technique. Once the assignment is completed, the student simply needs to email the media book back to the teacher for assessment using Sharing features built into the Dartfish software.
The partnership between Dartfish and PLC has the perfect synergies for a complete integration of world-class video analysis software, the latest laptop computer technology and innovative pedagogy and classroom practice.
With the tireless assistance of Apple Distinguished Educator and Director of Information Services, Brett Clarke, Head of Physical Education, Chantelle James and the Dartfish development team, the roll out of over 400 copies of Dartfish Classroom into Years 5, 8 and 11 went ahead seamlessly. Additionally the entire Physical Education Department is now equipped with the premier Dartfish ProSuite 4.0 providing additional capabilities to develop and produce coaching and curriculum materials for students.
