WIESBADEN. The foundation for a complete collaboration between the Hesse Cultural Ministry and Dartfish Germany, commenced on the 8th of May 2006.
Dartfish Software, initially known for its enhanced content seen on television, is currently utilized in orthopedics, sport shops, physiotherapy, and various other sport and science environments.

In Germany, Dartfish Software has now made its debut in education. The software is used in PE by teachers/coaches at the Hesse Schools with the focus on developing talent. In each of the 37 equipped schools, two teachers have been trained to use Dartfish within team sports, athletics, martial arts and aquatic sports.
With the creation of the teacher/coach position at the Hesse Sports Colleges, an actual measure has been put in place for scouting future talent. The schools operate as “partner schools for "high-level sporting” and coordinating of activities between the school, the regional clubs and association, and performance at the national level.
The projects are integrated in the schools and are accessible to the students in their specific region.
Students who are particularly talented have the opportunity within the “Talented Support Groups” and extended school support to get a sport-specific education. The aim of this program is to integrate these potential athletes into the regional teams and into the second phase of the national performance teams.
The additional effort and time invested in sport will not alter the school results. To help balance both sporting achievement and academic results in the school the newly appointed “teachers/coaches“ have some additional responsibilities such as: homework-assistance, parent information sessions and consultations.
In order to make the whole system more effective, the 70 teacher/coaches have been trained with Dartfish Software. During this training, the many features of the software have been learned and applied. “Thanks to its easy handling the software is simple to learn, and is not time-consuming when used within the lessons”, explains one of the teachers/coaches.

The communication between the students and teachers is improved thanks to the video images and the visualization of key moments in a practice session. The students can measure their performance, identify areas for improvement and monitor progress. This results in both accelerated learning, and increased student motivation.
The software offers many possibilities to analyze, communicate and share video. For example, a teacher can break down the evolution of a movement into key moments and highlight positive or negative aspects with oral or written comments. A teacher also has the ability to compare a performance with a reference video of the same student or another athlete from a present or a previous training session.
Features such as drawings tools and synchronous playback of multiple video, help to highlight certain key teaching points, while the easy management of videos supports the daily work of the “teacher/coaches”.
After their two-day training course, the teacher/coaches received Dartfish Certification attesting to their ability to use Dartfish Software in their new role supporting the future talent of Germany.
