Dr. Gary Krebs of Southern Miss Receives Faculty Excellence Award for Use of Dartfish

Dr. Gary Krebs from the University of Southern Mississippi was recognized for Faculty Excellence as a result of his use of “Dartfish technology—a tool for enhancing the analysis of human motion.”
The Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Gary Krebs, Associate Professor in Human Performance and Recreation, by President Dr. Martha Saunders in her first State of the University address on Friday September 14, 2007.
Krebs uses Dartfish in his undergraduate biomechanics labs as well as his graduate sport skills analysis class. “Students at Southern Miss planning to seek jobs in personal training, coaching or physical rehabilitation will benefit the most from classes utilizing the software. Capturing these critical elements is key to the students’ abilities to detect errors or deficiencies in movement, as well as pinpointing prospective strengths,” explained Krebs, in a statement to the Hattiesburg American Newspaper.
Dr. Krebs sits on the Dartfish Sport and Exercise Science Advisory Board and is presently involved in authoring a Biomechanics E-Text which interfaces with Dartfish software, along with four other advisory board members. The e-text is scheduled for completion and use in the spring of 2008.
