FSU tennis staff employing Dartfish technology in coaching

In an effort to make their students better tennis players, teaching professionals are constantly trying to affect change.

The coaching staff at Florida State University believes it has found a tool that makes it easier to change students' strokes and thus enhance improvement.

It's a computer software program called Dartfish. Whether it's a player in the college programme or a youngster involved in Seminole High Performance Training, the staff videotapes all its students and then uses the Dartfish technology to reveal the truth about what's actually going on.

The Dartfish programme allows students to see their strokes clearly in super-slow motion and the video can be stopped at any point to further reveal what's happening.

The coaching staff can actually e-mail video to each of its students with accompanying comments. One feature allows the video to be broken down into specific areas such as unit turn, loading, contact point and follow through.

Wtih this programme, the kids can really see how much they are actually improving and their hard work is rewarded. Dartfish allows the players to focus on their conditioning and technical work, as well as look at where their strokes were 3 or 6 months ago and really see the improvement.

Being able to see what you're doing helps you understand so much better.
