Partnership Brings High-Tech Video to High School Sports
CHAMPAIGN, IL (September 27, 2005)
Human Kinetics will work with Dartfish USA to develop and sell enhanced sport performance video software programming.
In the first of several applications, Human Kinetics will team up with the software maker on an upcoming Coaching [Sport] Technical and Tactical Skills Series through the company?s American Sport Education Program (ASEP). The series combines books, video, and an online course. Dartfish's software will allow ASEP coaches and athletes to - among other functions - analyze their athletes' actions by comparing them to the library created by Human Kinetics and Dartfish. The software comes with a complete range of tools that allow coaches to communicate more efficiently, analyze movements and share the results by email and on CDs.
"Our video analysis bridges the gap between doing and understanding," says Dartfish USA president, Victor Bergonzoli. "Athletes are able to see how they can improve, thereby aiding the dialogue between coach and player."
Similar analysis is used throughout the professional and Olympic ranks. Baseball?s Curt Schilling, for example, used Dartfish software during his recent rehabilitation by videotaping his workouts and comparing throws to ensure his mechanics did not vary.
"Dartfish software will augment what we?re able to provide coaches and players," says Human Kinetics CEO Brian Holding. "We?re excited to incorporate this cutting-edge video technology into our video products. It will provide high school and youth coaches with technology currently being used by Olympic, professional, and major college coaches."
Human Kinetics will be utilizing the Dartfish software in many of the skill instruction videos it will be producing. These products include DVDs, CD-ROMs, and web-based courses.
Human Kinetics serves teachers, coaches, professionals, researchers, sport participants, and fitness enthusiasts by producing textbooks and their ancillaries, consumer books, software, videos, audiocassettes, journals, and online courses. Headquartered in Champaign, Illinois, with offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, Human Kinetics has annual sales surpassing $30 million.
