2005-Apr-15 14:06
TWI, the television division of IMG, and Dartfish Ltd, the innovative digital image company, have joined forces to expand the uses of the popular SimulCam and StroMotion technologies for sports and entertainment broadcasts on television and the Internet.
In a multi-year deal, TWI Interactive (TWIi), the digital media and technology arm of TWI, will develop and promote innovative uses of the Dartfish inventions - StroMotion, which shows athletes' movements in successive freeze frames, and SimulCam, which shows athletes' performances in individual sports (like downhill skiing) on screen appearing to be going head-to-head against their competitors. TWI/TWIi will now have rights throughout North America to provide Dartfish's post-production technologies, which can be applied to any clean video feed, including archived footage. TWI/TWIi will use the features on its own TV and broadband productions as well as offering the system to third parties interested in using these applications to enhance their own sports and entertainment programming. TWIi will provide outside producers with design and operational support from a team that has expertise in utilizing the Dartfish technologies for post-production. "We are committed to developing the most dynamic, fan-friendly technologies for our TV and broadband productions," said Russell Quy, executive producer of TWIi. "The Dartfish technology will give us access to the best story-telling and analytical tools available, and furthermore, the expansion of these tools from television into all forms of advanced media will open up a new realm of possibilities."
