This year’s conference focuses on the developments of our latest software, Dartfish 5.5, and the web-sharing platform dartfish.tv, illustrated by many use cases from top NGBs in the UK.

Neil Melville - Director of Training (EU), Dartfish
Neil started using Dartfish v2.0 when working in coach education for the UK Sports institute. Later, in 2004, he re-wrote the Dartfish online Help for the release of v4.0 and in the same year created a set of training resources for use by Dartfish trainers worldwide so if you haven’t actually been trained by Neil directly, you may have seen his work or heard his voice on webinars and tutorials. Neil currently has responsibility for training in Europe and is working on functionality and interface development for future Dartfish software.
Dartfish.tv – implications of the Autumn 2010 release and new channel management
New keyword management will cause dartfish.tv channel owners to rethink how they organise content both offline and online. The new PC Player allows anyone to upload content. A sneak preview at the improved interface.

Ashley Jones - Product Manager, Optimal Analysis, and Dartfish Reseller
Ashley has 2 and a half years experience working for Optimal Analysis providing performance analysis solutions and training to education establishments from Primary to HE, sports teams and elite athletes. He has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Nottingham Trent University and has been a British Swimming Champion over 50m Butterfly. Ashley also has experience teaching having lectured on the FdSc Sport Coaching at South Nottingham College.
Software – from basic to advanced video analysis
This presentation will bring the Dartfish user through many technical aspects and examples of movement analysis, technical or biomechanical. It will give an overview of all analysis features, from drawing tools to tracking features, as well as the 2 Dartfish patented technologies, Simulcam and Stromotion. This will be illustrated by use cases in Olympic sports.

Robert is the Dartfish reseller and trainer in Ireland. He has consulted in the implementation of systems for elite teams and associations to get the most from the software. Robert has also acted as a consultant video analyst to many teams in Ireland. He is currently completing an MSc in Performance Analysis. Robert is also the founder of a Performance Analysis website www.thevideoanalyst.com
Tagging from beginner to advanced
An in-depth look at the key steps needed to get started in Tagging. Specifically looking at how to create beginner tagging panels that will always work. Examining the use of EasyTag and how it relates to the Dartfish software. Advanced features will be explored, including, advanced tagging panels, linking external data, examining split screen for team sports and exploring statistical information.

Simon Briscoe - EIS Performance Analyst, working with STGBR
Simon is the Performance Analyst for Skandia Team GBR. He has been working for the team for just over an Olympic cycle now. Previously Simon did Mechanical Engineering at University, worked at Jordan GP (Vehicle Dynamicist) and then Ford (Engine Development) before combining his engineering background with his love of sailing by joining the team just over 2 years out from the Beijing games.

A former international hockey coach, Richard now divides his time across a range of sports, from fencing to squash as well as the more traditional rugby and football.
Dartfish Integration in Performance Sport
The presentation will illustrate how Dartfish forms a core component of the support structure for Elite athletes studying at the University of the West of England. Through the use of traditional video feedback and augmented by additional data sources including heart rate and movement data, the Sports Performance Team use Dartfish to provide a comprehensive feedback and monitoring system to athletes across a range of sports. The presentation will also highlight the challenges and complexities faced when using Dartfish across a multidisciplinary environment.

Julia has been providing performance analysis support to elite sports for over twelve years. Currently Julia works for the English Institute of Sport, working predominantly with the GB canoe slalom team (2004-to date). Julia worked intensively with the GB canoe slalom prior to and during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and is now working closely with athletes and coaches in preparation for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The impact of Dartfish on GB Canoeing’s Olympic Programme
GB Canoeing and the English Institute of Sport have been using Dartfish software for over 6 years. They use Dartfish in a number of different ways to gain valuable information to feed back into the coaching process. This presentation will provide an insight into how the canoe slalom athletes, coaches and performance analysts use Dartfish to impact positively on performance.
Julia has been providing performance analysis support to elite sports for over twelve years. Currently Julia works for the English Institute of Sport, working predominantly with the GB canoe slalom team (2004-to date). Giles Lindsay – Head of Analysis, Leeds Rugby
After graduating from the University of Leeds in 2001, Giles joined the Leeds Tykes (now Carnegie) as one of the first dedicated video analysts in English professional rugby union. After a brief spell at analysis data providers OPTA, where he was requested to provide analysis for the British Lions touring New Zealand, he accepted an offer to return to Leeds Rugby as Head of Analysis, with responsibility for the analysis strategy and provision to Leeds Carnegie, Leeds Rhinos and their junior teams. Since 2007 Dartfish has been at the centre of Leeds Rugby’s analysis programme – recently playing a key role in Leeds Carnegie’s success in the ‘One Million Pound Match’, which ensured the team retained their status in the top flight of English Rugby Union.

An insight into the day to day workings of an analysis department in a Professional sports team serving around 200 players and 7 teams. The presentation will examine the logistics of the operation, how Dartfish software is utilised by the coaches and players and how specific recent advancements in the capabilities of the software have been incorporated into their programme. Specifically focusing on the Tagging function of Dartfish 5.5 and its application in their analysis processes, discussion will include how the developments with the Tag Live component allow them to review and make critical game changing analysis decisions during matches. Finally learn how dartfish.tv has dramatically changed the nature of their analysis delivery to all levels of their programme.

Will Swaithes – PE Lead, AST
Having graduated from Loughborough University in 2002 Will has been teaching PE for 8 years now. He began his teaching career at Arnold Hill School in Nottingham where he gained Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) status in 2006. Will then moved as Lead AST to Magnus CofE School in Newark which had been placed in ‘Special Measures’ by Ofsted in 2008. Keen to meet requirements of new National Curriculum and examination PE (GCSE, BTEC & A Level) to ‘analyse performance’ they entered into a pilot project with Minster School to utilize dartfish.tv to enhance teaching and learning.

Having completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Mathematics and Performance Analysis of Sport respectively, Chris joined the EIS as part of inaugural UKSport Intern Scheme over 6 years ago. Since then he has worked with numerous international world leading sports and is now a senior practitioner within the EIS/British Cycling Programme heading up the Performance Analysis services for all Olympic Cyclists.
Chris will be presenting alongside Stafford on the partnership success between EIS and Dartfish and will show examples of how Dartfish has been utilised over this Olympic cycle as an efficacious Performance Impacting Intervention tool.

With 162 (62% of the total) medals won by Dartfish users from multiple countries, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games proved to be once again very successful for Dartfish users worldwide. The Dartfish unique StroMotion and SimulCam features were used by broadcasters around the globe to enhance production and create stunning analyses for the worldwide viewing public. Let’s take a look at how Dartfish increased the athletes’ chances of taking home the coveted medals.
