At Dartfish, we are fortunate to work with passionate experts who are close to the field. Discover the inspiring story ofArmando Freitas Abreu, educator, coach and pioneer of video analysis applied to amateur and professional soccer.
A career rooted in soccer
Born into a family of eight children where soccer is a tradition, Armando grew up with the football in his feet. After a playing career with Red Star and Racing Club de France, he began his coaching career at the age of 34 with US Maisons-Laffitte, before moving on to train young players in Brittany and Portugal.
At the same time, he taught at a sports-study center in Brecey, and founded Stages Foot Loisirs in Fougères, which has been welcoming young footballers aged 9 to 17 every year for the past 17 years.

Video analysis for educational purposes
Video came into Armando’s life thanks to his coach at the time, Jean-Marie Lawniczak. He quickly understood the educational power of images. He began by making home-made montages on Pinnacle Studio, which he then burned onto VHS cassettes for his players… until the day he discovered Dartfish.
“It’s a complete, accessible, high-performance tool. Today, I couldn’t do without it.”
Introduced to the solution during an FFF training course at Clairefontaine in 2012, Armando was won over by the simplicity and efficiency of the solutions. He joined the Dartfish community.

Using Dartfish solutions
Today, Armando uses Dartfish at all levels:
- In matches and intraining, to capture attitudes, decisions and behaviors.
- Quickly share key sequences with your players via personalized links.
- To generate visual statistics and 3D analyses that even the youngest users can understand.

Armando firmly believes that video analysis should not be reserved for the elite. He integrates it fully into his training courses to individualize feedback, correct mistakes and enhance progress.
“Video analysis boosts players’ confidence, showing them concretely what they’re doing well, and what they need to improve.”
