FIFA Requirements for VAR Implementation

To ensure consistency and compliance with global officiating standards, FIFA has established key requirements for the use of VAR technology:

• FIFA Certification – VAR in football is only permitted with FIFA-certified solutions.
• Exclusive Distribution – The Dartfish VAR System is FIFA-certified and can only be distributed by Dartfish SA.
• Local Support – Dartfish SA collaborates with local partners for system maintenance and servicing, ensuring reliability worldwide.
• Certified Operators – The Dartfish VAR System can only be operated by FIFA-certified VARs and AVARs. Officials certified on full VAR systems are also qualified to operate VAR Light (see IAAP guidelines).
