The first team of the Berner Sport Club Young Boys (BSC Young Boys) evolved in the first Swiss Soccer League. They won 15 Swiss League Championships, 6 Swiss Cups and the last 4 Swiss Championships. YB is one of the most successful Swiss football clubs internationally, reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup in the 1958–59 season.
This year, and for the second time in their history, YB qualified for the Champions League in the play-offs, beating Slovan Bratislava, CFR Cluj, and Ferencvaros.
The team will now face 4 strong teams during the group stage: Manchester United (ENG), Villarreal (ESP), and Atalanta (ITA).
Just before this first group stage, we had the pleasure of interviewing their game analyst: Manuel Affolter on their use of Dartfish to prepare players and the team for competition.
“The most interesting thing to analyze is the relationship between the players, along with identifying free spaces, we can exploit.”
During the game, I tag. After the game, I work on the tags I generated during the game, without having to rewatch the entire game–a huge time saver.”
